The Millionairess Snowboarding for the first time in whistler http://www.themillionairessintraining.com
Stacia Snowboarding on her butt

For my birthday my boyfriend Joe Connector and I went to Whistler for the weekend on a media trip. I had never been to Whistler before and it has been a dream of mine to go snowboarding. Though Joe is a skier he was willing to try snowboarding for the first time with me. I wanted to take a second and reflect on all the lessons I learned on the slopes. After the trip I came away so inspired.

Here are the lessons I learned…

  1. I am out of shape! lol… I knew it would be a tough physically but I was super proud of myself that my but didn’t hurt as much as my arms did. I ended up having to lift my self up with my arms a lot. I have been exercising a lot at home doing a lot of squats seem to be my favorite exercise and it must have helped a little. Though a few times I felt my legs give out when I had a great momentum. More core and cardio work outs for me ;)
  2. Mindset is everything! Every time I started going faster my mind would flip out and say ” your going to fast, you will fall” guess what happens? I fell. I either would fly face forward or on my butt sliding down the hill. It is so important to try your mind to stay out of the gutter, or else you will go flying in it.
  3. The best way to learn anything is to go out and do it.  We didn’t want to pay anyone to teach us how to snowboard so we went out on our own. Sometimes the best teaching is when you are not afraid to fall and get back up again. It took me a the first few hours to get it but by the time we got towards the bottom I started to feel like I was getting it.
  4. Duplicate what works. I had no clue how to get on the ski lift. We watched a few people and they had one boot on their boards and the other off so they could slide up to the chair lift line and had one foot our propped on the foot bar. Watching others get on and off and trying to copy what others do works.
  5. Interview successful people. Joe gets his nick name “The Connector” because he is truly a connector. He has this talent or some kind of easy going vibe that makes it easy for him to talk to others and interview them maybe because of his news background with owning a newspaper, bellevuebusinessjournal.com. So, as we are checking in and getting our gear, and as we shared a chair lift up the mountain he constantly would ask others “what advice would you give beginners?”. I love it because as you know, the main reason I started this blog was to interview people who have generated wealth and learn from their experiences to get to a level they have gotten to. Same with snowboarding. How can I learn to be an expert on the slopes interview the experts. Or if you have the money hire someone to teach you or ask a friend who would be willing to teach you. I am a big advocate for having mentors support in all aspects for your life.
  6. Positive Partners….I am so lucky I have a positive boyfriend who keeps cheering me on. I would get a good rhythm going and start passing Joe and he would say “keep going, your doing great! Don’t stop!”. He never said anything negative to me. He would keep making sure I was ok. He waited patiently when I couldn’t get up. As we got closer to the end he would say only 50 feet more, you can do it!! I appreciated that so much!! It is so important to keep positive people around you. It helps to have a cheer section that you can count on.
  7. The faster you get up the easier it got. Strangely this was true and can be related to life as well. The faster I was able to get back up from a fall the easier it was to get back up. When I would fall and stay stuck it would take more effort and struggle to get back up.
  8. Kids are so focused! We can learn a lot from our kids. On this trip we didn’t bring our kids but I saw so many kids ski-ing like pros. I saw this one girl so focused and just flowing down as her mom and siblings were trying to keep up, yelling at her to stop and wait. It was so cute I saw this one dad holding a 3 year old sleeping in his arms skiing down the mountain. Nothing to learn here but it was just really cute that guy must have been a very skilled pro to carry a kid and ski back down. I can’t wait to get our kids up on the slopes.
  9. Canadians are nice! I love meeting people and everywhere we went people were really nice. I know Whistler is a resort town but everyone who worked in the restaurants to the hotel and ski lodge were very nice. It seemed like people came from all over Canada and other places to enjoy the skiing and they all came for the love of the sport.
  10. It’s an expensive sport. Snowboarding, Skiing are expensive sports. By the time you rent all the equipment, travel expenses, hotel and food it can be costly. It’s a reason I haven’t done it in the past. I was talking with my friend and the perspective she gave me made me think. She said well everything is expensive and that is true to anyone depending on your priorities. It reminds me of this quote “Do the things others won’t, so you can do what others can’t”. So for someone like the guy who was fitting my bindings on my snowboard he lives breathes and works in the industry he loves. He makes money doing his passion so he can do it all year long. It’s not my passion to go up their all the time but now that I got a taste of it I really want to make it a priority to set aside some money to do a few trips in the winter time. What you focus on you get!

Sorry I attempted to get to 31 lessons but I think these top 10 were so great I think will stop here.

I was so tired I didn’t take much photos, so here are a few we did take.

No thank you

I have millions of things to be grateful for…
Being grateful is not just a once a year thing for me it’s a daily ritual.
Almost every day I write down what I am grateful for and appreciate in my life right now in the moment.
I have been doing this on and off but in the last year I’d say very consistently.

I have a group of friends almost like brothers and really teachers that I send it to and we keep each other accountable.

Actually it really inspires me as well to see what my friends are up to and what they are being grateful for in their lives. I even have the boyfriend in on the daily ritual and I love reading them.

When I open my email and see that someone from the group beat me to it it inspires me to write mine before I get into any work emails. It’s a great way to start my day. Even if I don’t get to it the first thing in the morning I find some quiet time to do it in the late afternoon.

One of my recent favorite blogs Get Busy living Blog had a great post about doing a 30 day Gratitude Experiment. Benny did a great job explaining why its important and why all the personal development gurus say its all the range and how scientifically proven to be good for your health.

I have so many things to be grateful for and I know you do to but there is just something about taking the 5-10 minutes to go into a deep thought. Acknowledging even the little things from being appreciative of accomplishments and for the people around you and being grateful for where you are at in life.

Today, I want to take a moment to share what I’m thankful for this 2011. At the end in the comments, it’d be great to share some things you’re thankful for.

Does success leave clues?

Why yes they do…

I learned really quickly that if you want to be or do anything, ask someone who has done it.

Ask someone who has not only done it, but someone who is the best at it.

It is interesting how we grow up and have this either or mentality.

How many times have you said to yourself well I can’t do x until y happens?

Why have bread when you can have a salmon

I don’t know about you but sometimes I see myself being stopped by being comfortable with the bread even though I know I can have it all.

  • Visuals - Visualize yourself doing or being who ever or what ever you want to be, do or have. I have a vision board, I also am creating a catalog of photos of things I want or pictures of me doing things or traveling around the world.
  • Speak it – Speak it out into existence. Say it out loud. I repeat my goals and affirm that I am already a Millionairess. I am happy and enjoying freedom doing what I love.
  • Write it down – This blog is exactly my outlet to share my dreams and goals as if they are in the present tense.

You deserve the best salmon or if your not a fish eater anything you can ever dream of.

Yesterday was amazing day. I got to hang out with Lilou Mace a co-founder of an global Internet community, The 100-Day Reality Challenge www.CoCreatingOurReality.com that counts over 6,000 members (co-creators) in 125 countries. Lilou is now traveling around the world interviewing people to offer online everyday inspiration on the www.JuicyLivingTour.com

It’s been a dream of mine to meet her one day and I can check this goal of the bucket list hehe. I have been watching her videos for years possibly around 2007 after learning about the Secret. I’ve learned how to manifest my self into the best job and learned how to listen and be in touch with spirit or my intuition. I am not the only one watching many websites describe her as a “7-million-view YouTube phenomenon”. Using social networking sites such as YouTube, DailyMotion, Twitter, Facebook, her newly born webTV and her bubbly personality, Lilou has built an online following of millions around the world. Her webTV channels receive nearly half a million (+750,000) video views a month.

Lilou believes that we can fulfill our life potential and manifest our dreams by focusing our thoughts on what we want, listening to heart, love ourselves, be courageous, playing big and applying juicy insights, tools and practices which she shares daily on video. Her mission statement indicates that she aims, amongst other things, to “inspire millions of people to explore their unlimited potential and make spirituality an everyday thing”.

In April 2009 she had self-published ‘I Lost My Job and I Liked It: 30-Day Law-of-Attraction Diary of a Dream Job Seeker‘ after loosing her job on the 16th of February 2009, as Internet Marketing Director, in London, England.

Lilou’s Youtube videos document her participation in life, on her 12-month around the world Juicy Living Tour and the 100-Day Reality Challenge, as well as features world famous authors, speakers, artists, entrepreneurs that Lilou qualifies as ‘Juicy’. These guests presents their thoughts and message in a fun, educational, inspiring format, mostly via webcam. Her international guests includes Marianne Williamson, Debbie Ford, Barbara Hand Clow, James Redfield, Caroline Myss, Julia Cameron, Deepak Chopra, Michael Losier, Barbara Marx Hubbard, John Gray, Sonia Choquette, Mooji, Pr Bill Tiller, Dr Joan Borysenko, Arielle Ford, William Whitecloud, Dr John Demartini, Carl Calleman, Gay Hendricks, etc.

She has certainly inspired me to start this site and share my own journey through my life and goals. Lilou has started a 12-month inspirational filmed tour across the US and the world, on 1-11-2011. The Juicy Living tour is an “on the road” internet program based on discovering “everyday inspiration” through the spiritual exploration. The purpose of the “on the road” tour is to inspire people globally to focus on positive living and thinking in times of financial, social, and economic chaos. http:/www.juicylivingtour.com

Mission, with the Juicy Living Tour, is to follow life – wherever it leads me. This is a healing journey – for me and for all of those watching who want to let their soul guide them.

I am so grateful that Lilou is doing these videos giving people a voice. Teaching through her experiences. The tour is being funded all by donations. Please watch her channel on youtube or on her website juicylivingtour.com and if you like them donate to the tour or contribute with what you can.

Here is a Video we did with the Meetup Group at Chaco Canyon Cafe in Seattle
